Some Native American tribes referred to the U.S. cavalry as “long knives” because they carried swords or sabers. The modern version of a long knife is a politician who claims to represent a certain collection of principles but violates them time after time. He or she is guilty of knifing the gullible constituents in the back. To be candid the mortal wounds are not always the fault of the weasel-like politician. Sometimes the voters just “assume” that a candidate accepts their point of view…

Today as you go about your tasks, you are living history. Today is Tomorrow’s history and next Century’s ancient history. Perhaps if you are caught up in a momentous event today, you may become a footnote in history. There is a methodology for historical analysis called the new social history which attempts to view history through the eyes and sensations of ordinary people. Their primary criticism of traditional historical methods is that they focus too often on “great leaders and…

You are probably familiar with the fable about the Emperor’s New Clothes. If we were writing a story about today’s gallant knights who are running for office to save our nation, we would probably note that they’re wearing tin-foil armor. They are clothed with the fragile protection of expediency that they expect us to assume is principle. Every candidate from every party or movement is to some degree a flawed warrior. For those of us who must choose our standard bearer, we are faced with…

As the proud (very, very proud) grandfather of 3 (soon to be 4) wonderful young people and children, one of my greatest concerns is what type of legacy I will leave for them. I don’t mean legacy in the way that most career politicians use the term….a notable political achievement. No, the legacy that I seek is the one that is firmly implanted on their hearts and their characters. Each of them has unique talents and abilities that equip them well for becoming producers and contributors as…
ContinueThank you Charlie. I will read them both. I look forward to future conversations. The thought of linking your blog prompted an intuitive idea. I would like to start a virtual "round table", a section of worthies on the front page with blog links to writers, teachers, and thinkers - possibly call it "The Round Table of Freedom". I want to set these links above and apart from the main list. Additions would be based on support of the American ideal (freedom, free markets, constitutional republicanism, individualism, personal responsibility, etc.) and not partisanship or party. In posting your link there, I offer you the first "siege at the round table" so to speak. Never fear, it is not the siege perilous...:) I'm thinking of inviting Lloyd Marcus to the list also. He would of course be.......wait for it......... "The Unhyphenated Knight" Would you concur on adding his blog? Let me know what you think of the idea...

I read your most recent article, Swifty Sez. A domination of diction, a parade of parables, and a syllogism of semantics shredding the sycophants of Soros. Splendid!
Might I add your blog to our links? Thanks! - Jon
Wow Charlie!
Your answers to the three questions are the best ever. Really. I wrote the questions hoping to catch a potential student of liberty. You sir, are obviously a teacher. I am honored that you would join FRP.
I usually write a semi-canned statement of introduction to a new member's page. I would rather start a conversation with you, and share a bit about FRP. The site has been active since 2009, when the Tea Party caught on. I had served 25 years in the USAF. When I realized my service to this country would never end, I thought "Hey, I'm part geek, and an education guy..." So, I started this site. I am the one admin, the poster of all content but member blog and group additions, and the sole financier.
Like the guardian of the Grail in Indiana Jones, it does not matter if I am the only one. I will do it until I am no longer capable. It is good to see another knight of freedom enter the room. I am grateful. I ask no dues, no sacrifice or time, only that a Free Range Patriot defend freedom however and wherever they can - they'll know what to do . It seems you are already doing that -- for this I thank you sincerely. Feel free to look around and add or suggest additions (especially great reading or learning opportunities) A warm welcome to you sir.
IFFTR! (In Fraternity, for the Republic!),
Jon
