Comment by Al Gutierrez on December 24, 2011 at 10:06pm There ia a book called The Voluntary City by David Beito which discusses the history of mutual aid societies that existed and can be brought back as non profits which can provide insurance to its members and can do so at way lower premiums. Also it discusses how private enterprise can solve virtually all problems. For instance one can replace local governments with homwowber or neighborhood associations and thus abolishing local municipal governments. As to any zoning it vcan be provided through deed restrictions and covenants. Thus an example of free market ideas helpiong solve problems. The neoghborhood associations can contract with independent provides for such areas as garbage pickup, police and private emergency rescue at a lower price than we have to pay via coercion to local governments which are mini dictatorships. This is just a sample of voluntary exchanges between individuals.
